Syria: Napalm-Like Burns After School Attack

People suffering from Napalm-like burns have been speaking of an attack in which a plane apparently dropped an incendiary bomb on students in Syria.

Video said to be from the town of Urum al Kubra, close to Aleppo, shows a man reported to be a school teacher, who says the students were attacked as they tried to escape from an attack nearby.

“The plane hit a residential area in Urum al Kubra,” he explains.

“We tried to get out quickly so we don’t get hurt, but it seems someone’s fate caught up with them today.

“A gathering of students formed, which is normal as the students needed to leave under these circumstances, and the plane hit us.”

The injuries were like those caused by Napalm, according to doctors

The video, posted on the internet, is said to have come from an account associated with a rebel group in Aleppo.

In another video filmed in the aftermath of the attack, a doctor reports seven deaths and 50 injuries – and says the burns resembled Napalm injuries.

However, the use of the substance has not been confirmed.

A BBC television crew who witnessed the bombing reported no shrapnel injuries and said the victims resembled “the walking dead”.

Napalm is not classified as an outlawed chemical weapon although it can cause devastating burn injuries.

UN chemical weapons inspectors will end their Syria mission by the weekend

Infamously used in the Vietnam War – as well as the Second World War – the jelly-like substance sticks to skin and burns at very high temperatures.

A United Nations convention prohibits using incendiary weapons against civilians, or against military targets located near civilian populations.

The pictures of the school attack emerged after MPs voted against military action over alleged chemical weapons gas attacks by the Syrian regime.

Some have described the outcome as a “humiliation” for the government and means the US may have to go ahead alone with any military strikes.

Speaking to Sky News, former Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown said the vote had left him “ashamed” and said it was vital to act to stop attacks on innocent civilians.

Syria Crisis: US May Act Without Allied Support

President Barack Obama may proceed with military action against Syria even without allied support, US officials have said.

But they stressed no final decision has been made on America’s response to the Syrian government’s alleged chemical weapons attack, which is said to have killed 1,300 people.

Veto-holding members of the United Nations are at odds over a draft Security Council resolution that would authorise “all necessary force” in response to the alleged gas attack.

The UK’s traditional role as America’s most reliable military ally was called into question when David Cameron became the first British prime minister in history to be blocked by MPs over the prospect of military action.

A chastened-looking PM, struggling to make himself heard over calls of “resign” from the opposition benches, told them “I get it” as he abandoned hopes of joining any US strike on Syria.

Speaking after the historic defeat, the White House said Mr Obama would decide on a response to chemical weapons use in Syria based on US interests, but that Washington would continue to consult with Britain.

British chancellor George Osborne acknowledged that the inability to commit British forces to any American-led operation against Assad would damage the special relationship between Westminster and Washington.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “I think there will be a national soul-searching about our role in the world and whether Britain wants to play a big part in upholding the international system, be that big, open and trading nation that I like us to be, or whether we turn our back on that.”

Sky’s Foreign Affairs Editor Tim Marshall said the relationship between Britain and the US was “bruised but not broken”. “I don’t think there’s a divorce on the cards, a bit of bickering perhaps,” he added.

US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel, speaking on a trip to the Philippines, said: “It is the goal of President Obama and our government … whatever decision is taken, that it be an international collaboration and effort.”

America is mulling whether to strike Syria without UN backing despite some of the more hawkish figures in the US cautioning against military action.

Former president, George W Bush, told Fox News Mr Obama had a “tough choice to make” but would not be drawn on what he should do.

He added: “I was not a fan of Mr Assad. He’s an ally of Iran and has made mischief.”

Former Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who helped spearhead US invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan, said: “There really hasn’t been any indication from the administration as to what our national interest is with respect to this particular situation.”

He said, if anything, the US should be more concerned with Iran.

Earlier, top US officials spoke to key Democrat and Republican politicians for more than 90 minutes in a conference call to explain why they believe the Syrian regime was responsible for the suspected chemical attack.

They have been pressing Mr Obama to provide a legal rationale for military action, and to lay out a firm case linking President Bashar al Assad’s forces to the attack.

Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, a senior Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said after the briefing that “strong evidence of the Assad regime’s continued use of chemical warfare” merited a military response.

It remained to be seen whether any sceptics were swayed by the call, given the expectation that officials would hold back classified information to protect intelligence sources.

“The main thing was that they have no doubt that Assad’s forces used chemical weapons,” New York Rep Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said after the briefing.

But he said officials did not provide much new evidence of that.

“They said they have (intercepted) some discussions and some indications from a high-level official,” he said, and that they possess intelligence showing material being moved in advance of the attack.

France announced that its armed forces “have been put in position to respond” if President Francois Hollande decides on military action.

He does not need French parliamentary approval to launch military action that lasts less than four months.

Moscow and Beijing have both vetoed previous Western efforts to impose UN penalties on Syria.

China has also been keen to show it is not taking sides and has urged the Syrian government to talk to the opposition and meet demands for political change.

Mr Assad, who has denied using chemical weapons, vowed his country “will defend itself against any aggression”.

Mr Obama has ruled out putting American forces on the ground in Syria or setting up a no-fly zone over the country.

He said any US response would be limited in scope and aimed solely at punishing Mr Assad for deploying deadly gases, not at regime change.

The most likely military option would be Tomahawk cruise missile strikes from four Navy destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

This was wrong of my Son and I told him so, but ASK PLEASE! Where does this thinking come from? Who plants this fear in us? The Media do, the Irony is the USA gave (I think)  $3 Billion in Aid to Muslim countries mainly for (WAIT FOR IT) Medical Aid, so Obama is helping his Muslim friends with Health but not the American people. I research as much as I can, if I am wrong, please call me on this, this is what I see, read and am told. Shocking huh!

France took the steps to say “Come to our country, you adhere to our customs and our ways” something I am sure Australia also do or tried to do or are trying to do. I live in the UK and in parts of Oldham in England it is “Almost” Sharia law, I hear stories of brutality and deaths and honour killings that are almost protected by a foreign law, and I must say, I think this is wrong. This is the UK, if you commit any crime, same as the Catholic priest who admitted having sex with boys as young as 8 and was protected by the Vatican and sent to another Church in the middle of nowhere to “Think about what he did” It is my belief both should be dealt with it if it was a UK born citizen as it would be, I find it SHOCKING that Muslims can come into the UK and hide behind their laws that don’t exist in the UK.

I know many will have mixed feeling and opinions over this, but if, for example a UK or Australian, USA born person, Man or Woman was to commit a crime, or something deemed to be a crime in a Muslim country, they would be brought to task. In one Muslim Country there are several UK citizens in jail awaiting DEATH for being “Accused” of carrying drugs, one I know about was carrying enough Cannabis in a Muslim Country, enough for 1 joint is looking at being killed.

So why is it we, UK, USA, Australian, German etc born people go to Muslim Countries and are held to task for their laws, Muslims come to our Countries and hide behind laws and tradition and religion, for me this is a disgrace and needs looked at now, one of the two men who beheaded soldier Lee Rigby in London is being protected in a safe wing of a prison due to his religion, I am sorry he should be in general population and have to deal with what anyone born in my country should deal with had they committed this atrocious act against Humanity

France have been very honest and said “You come here, you abide by French law” I only with Westminster (London Government) could put their fear of upsetting a rich oil producing nation to one side and treat them as people who are born in the UK, as I say, it disgusts me when Catholic Priests are protected after raping young kids by religion, why is this? I am not being disrespectful but care not a jot if I offend anyone; I am speaking the truth, what gives anyone the right to be safe from UK law because of their laws? I am asking, anyone?

Maybe more countries should follow France’s lead and forget powerful oil giant Countries and just set the law to all who are Human, respective of religion, colour, gender race whatever and jail them and charge them with the same laws I must abide by.

So as you can see, I blog about the whole story, it is just the scene is being played out on an American Stage. Mr Obama’s first term was challenging since he faced a strong Republican opposition intent on stopping his agenda dead in its tracks.

Just as his predecessors have done before him, when things are not going so well at home it’s time to take to the international stage to look “presidential” and refocus on the agenda.

It seems that Mr Obama had hoped his trip to the G8 and Germany would give him just that opportunity.

Last week he was at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on the eve of the 50th Anniversary of JFK’s famous speech to re-capture some of the magic of his 2008 campaign.

This time the president spoke before a much smaller, invited gathering.

Long gone were the “rock star” awaiting throng of hundreds of thousands that he so easily captivated just five years ago.

Realistically, expectations were not so high this time around and this Nobel Peace Prize winner’s only competition last week was not JFK or Ronald Reagan but Barack Obama himself.

Mr Obama has now governed for several years and the times have certainly changed.

The weight of real world problems that he has had to face may have eaten away at the idealistic hope his supporters had for him and his administration.

Optimism and idealism for “Hope and Change” seem to have given way to the hard, cold realities of the toughest job in the world.

Mr Obama has not only been facing a tough domestic opposition but he has also had to come face to face with the severe challenges on the international stage and they visibly taken their toll.

As Congress tries to wrap up some of its important legislation before the July 4 recess, the president and his family are headed for a week-long visit to Africa.

The Senate Immigration Reform Bill is front and centre, and the passage of this piece of historic legislation might need a bit of the president’s encouragement.

If passed, this is likely to be the most important piece of legislation passed in his second term.

At the same time he could also be facing the most the challenging crisis of his presidency.

The “Snowden Crisis” has put the Obama administration’s intelligence-gathering policies in jeopardy, under the public microscope, and has once again eroded the precious trust between the US government and the American people.

At LAST! Some real coverage, some real truths, some real debate over the constitution, some real reporting, and questions with depth to them. Many including myself have blogged fairly hard about the American foreign policy and homeland situation. I may be from Scotland, UK but the actual truth of the matter is, when America sneezes, we all get a cold over here, when America gets ill, we all get ill. I don’t think some in America truly realise the impact every decision, every move, every lie has on the World, the same World ALL our kids grow up in. The USA have had terrible time abroad with relations with China and Russia sinking to an all time low. With China now being the new financial superpower AND buying up land in the USA we enter a crucial time for the people of this Generation, and a time that can and probably will shape the World for generations to come with many issues being at hand that the American Government have backed themselves into a corner with.

This guy, I think he is a pastor or a bishop from Canada, I am not 100% sure, he cleverly got his friend to get all the noises ever heard and play them all at once. WOW!

David Cameron is to attend the secretive Bilderberg group at the luxury Grove hotel in Watford on Friday evening, in a move that is likely to raise questions about his pledge to lead Britain’s most transparent government.

Downing Street said it was acting in an open manner by publicising the prime minister’s attendance in advance.

The PM’s spokesman, who said heads of government of countries hosting the annual Bilderberg meeting were usually invited to attend, said it would be a private event and that civil servants were not expected to attend.

No 10 is to clarify the position because ministers are usually expected to be accompanied by civil service note-takers when they meet business leaders. Henri de Castries, the chairman and CEO of the AXA Group, is the Bilderberg chairman.

English Mosque praised for offering English Defence League protesters tea

If only this happened all over EARTH!!

After the beheading of Soldier Lee Rigby who serves in a regiment and plays in the same band as a friend did, there has been much unrest in the UK, Mosques have been attached as have anyone looking like a Muslim (I mean that remark in the ugliest way possible, this is what is happening) getting beaten up or worse.

However, Yesterday in York a planned demonstration by the English Defense League supporters was calmed down when a mosque started serving tea and biscuits to EDL Protesters and defused the situation. If only this happened more eh. It says a lot that Muslims are trying to get the message over “We don’t all want to kill you” And I say well done to this little Mosque in York, England. A proud moment for humanity. It is sad Lee died, but an eye for an eye attitude will lead to chaos, that probably will still happen to erupt in the streets of England. I am well known for wanting Independence from England, for my Country Scotland, but today I am proud to say “I am British” I only hope that other EDL members act in the same manner and react this way.

A mosque has been praised for serving tea and biscuits to English Defense League supporters after the far-right group arranged a demonstration there.

About six people turned up to protest at the mosque in Bull Lane, York, on Sunday and were invited inside to play football with worshippers.

More than 100 supporters of the mosque had gone there after learning of the planned EDL protest.

Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu said the mosque’s response was “fantastic”.

He said: “Tea, biscuits, and football are a great and typically Yorkshire combination when it comes to disarming hostile and extremist views.”

‘Proud moment’

Father Tim Jones, who went to the Bull Lane mosque, which is situated in his parish, said: “I’ve always known they were intelligent and compassionate people and I think this has demonstrated the extent to which they are people of courage – certainly physical courage and also a high degree of moral courage.

“I think the world can learn from what happened outside that ramshackle little mosque on Sunday.”

Hull Road ward councillor Neil Barnes said it had been a “proud moment for York”.

He said: “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the day that the York Mosque tackled anger and hatred with peace and warmth – and I won’t forget the sight of a Muslim offering a protester tea and biscuits with absolute sincerity.”

Fears over a demonstration grew after Yorkshire EDL Scarborough Division posted a message on its Facebook page calling for supporters to gather outside the mosque.

Imam Abid Salik said: “We did have a few people who did come to protest but when they came some of the members of the mosque went over and they engaged in a conversation.

“Some people went over with cups of tea and biscuits, they were talking for about 30 or 40 minutes and then they came inside, which was a really, really beautiful thing.”

Father Tim Jones said “the world can learn” from what happened outside the mosque, a small one at that. If only, we can pray

UK – ‘Soldier Dead After Terror Attack’

Again, I will blog IF there is a story to blog on. This was London, 400/500 south of me. 2 Muslim terrorists killed a serving UK Soldier, within minutes, the armed police arrived and shot both the 2 terrorists, but not dead, both are alive and in different hospitals getting treatment. Rumours of more to come, but just that at the second. I hope they both live and get put in Brixton Prison. How many more attacks against people are going to happen before we tell people who have NOTHING to offer a country, if you can’t speak the language, if you can’t offer us your ability to work, you don’t come in. The Radicals will have been known as “Suspect” so why let them into the UK? I have no problem with immigration, I do however have a problem with fanatics who come into my country, get a free house and live free on state benefit. Don’t let them in!! The Tories I dislike, but on this front, they close the doors, make it harder. If you can’t speak English or give us work, you don’t get in. Labour, when in power left the back door open. A man reported to be a serving soldier is dead and two people have been shot in Woolwich, south east London, after what Sky sources understand is being treated as a terrorist attack.

Downing Street has called a meeting of the Government’s Cobra emergency committee after the incident in John Wilson Street, which David Cameron described as “truly shocking”.

Sky sources understand that senior police officers believe the killing was likely to be a politically-motivated Islamist terrorist attack.

Dozens of weapons – including a number of knives – and pools of blood could be seen on the ground, where a man wearing a Help for Heroes T-shirt is said to have been attacked by two men.

The incident happened around a mile from the Royal Artillery Barracks

Witnesses say the pair appeared to deliberately drive their car at the victim, before getting out with various bladed weapons and launching their attack.

Sky sources say that following their attack, as the victim lay motionless in the middle of the road, witnesses heard the pair chanting “Allahu akbar” – and asking passers-by to take photographs of them.

Armed officers arrived at the scene and opened fire on the two alleged attackers. The men were taken to separate hospitals with gunshot wounds.

The Met Police confirmed one person had died following the incident and said the Independent Police Complaints Commission had now taken over the investigation.

Photographs taken at the scene show three people lying on the ground. Their condition was not clear. A car that appeared to have crashed could also be seen.

Commander Simon Letchford, from the Met, said officers were called to the road at 2.20pm.

“One man was being assaulted by two other men,” he said.

“A number of weapons were reportedly being used in the attack, and this included reports of a firearm.

“Officers including local Greenwich officers arrived at the scene and shortly after firearms officers arrived on the scene.

“On their arrival at the scene they found a man, who was later pronounced dead.  At this early stage I am unable to provide any further information about the man who has died.

“Two men, who we believe from early reports to have been carrying weapons, were shot by police. They were taken to separate London hospitals, they are receiving treatment for their injuries.”

The Prime Minister is expected to cut short a trip to Paris to return to London in the wake of the incident.

Nigel Foran, who saw the incident as he returned home from shopping, described a scene of a confusion.

He told Sky News: “We saw a man running towards the police officers and then we heard a couple of gunshots.

“He went to the floor and was surrounded while officers drew their stun guns. After that, all the people who were watching ran away when they heard the gunshots.”

The Ministry of Defence said it was urgently looking at the reports that the incident involved a soldier.

Greenwich and Woolwich MP Nick Raynsford had earlier told Sky News he believed the deceased was a serving soldier.

He said he had spoken to both borough commander Richard Wood and Lieutenant Colonel Bob Christopher at  Royal Artillery Barracks  – which is around a mile from the scene of the attack.

“We think a serving soldier was the victim. We don’t know the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Schools in the area have been placed on lockdown.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson posted on his Twitter account: “This afternoon’s attack in Woolwich is a sickening deluded and unforgivable act of violence.”
