US readies possible missile strike against Syria

Despite President Obama cautioning against intervention in Syria, the Pentagon is making “initial preparations” for a cruise missile attack on Syrian government forces, according to a new report.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey is expected to present options for such a strike at a White House meeting on Saturday, CBS News reported on Friday.

US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel suggested Friday naval forces are moving in position closer to Syria in case Obama chooses action.

“The Defense Department has a responsibility to provide the president with options for contingencies, and that requires positioning our forces, positioning our assets, to be able to carry out different options — whatever options the president might choose,” Hagel said, adding a decision must be made quickly given “there may be another (chemical) attack.”

Meanwhile, a defense official, cited by Reuters, said on Friday the US Navy was expanding its Mediterranean presence with a fourth cruise-missile ship, the USS Mahan. Though the source stressed to Reuters the Navy did not have orders to prepare for military operations against Syria.

The ship was due to head back to the United States, but the commander of the US Sixth Fleet decided to maintain the ship in the region.

All four ships are capable of launching long-range, subsonic cruise missiles to reach land targets.

President Barack Obama is under renewed pressure to take action following the emergence of footage of what appears to be the aftermath of a toxic agent attack in a Damascus suburb on Wednesday. The forces of President Bashar Assad were assaulting a rebel stronghold in the district at the time, but deny responsibility. Moscow, which has maintained close ties with the regime, called the incident a rebel “provocation” possibly designed to derail upcoming Geneva peace talks.

Though the Pentagon will present plans for potential action on Saturday, as CBS reported, President Obama has final say on any further developments.

Questioned on the continuing upheaval in Syria and Egypt during a CNN interview Friday, Obama saidthe United States should be wary of “being drawn into very expensive, difficult, costly interventions that actually breed more resentment in the region.”

Obama went on to express reservations for becoming involved in the 30-month Syrian conflict due to a lack of international consensus.

“If the US goes in and attacks another country without a UN mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented, then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it, [and] do we have the coalition to make it work?” said Obama.

Despite his cautious tone, Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice said via Twitter, “What is Bashar al Assad hiding? The world is demanding an independent investigation of Wednesday’s apparent CW attack. Immediately.”

Adding to the rhetoric in Washington, Sen. John McCain said that if the administration was to “let this go on,” it was “writing a blank check to other brutal dictators around the world if they want to use chemical weapons.”

The top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee also spoke out in support of a strike in Syria, writing to Obama of the need to respond to the latest alleged outrage.

“If we, in concert with our allies, do not respond to Assad’s murderous uses of weapons of mass destruction, malevolent countries and bad actors around the world will see a green light where one was never intended,” Rep. Eliot Engel wrote on Friday.

Engel has been a proponent of a more aggressive approach to Assad’s government.

“And, we can do this with no boots on the ground, from stand-off distances,” he added in the letter. “I know that your Administration is wrestling with these very complex issues, but I believe that we, as Americans, have a moral obligation to step in without delay and stop the slaughter.”

Obama insisted to CNN that while the United States remains “the one indispensable nation” in international diplomacy, he suggested that perhaps this was one conflict where the world should not look to Washington for a definitive answer.

“The notion that the US can somehow solve what is a sectarian complex problem inside of Syria sometimes is overstated,” said the president.

The White House later released a statement confirming Obama’s words, and emphasizing that the US has no plans to put “boots on the ground.”

Around 3,600 Syrians have been treated for “neurotoxic symptoms”, and 355 of them have died, says the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

The victims flooded into three Syrian hospitals on the day that hundreds of people were allegedly killed in a “chemical massacre” outside the capital Damascus.

They all arrived within less than three hours of each other, said MSF director of operations Bart Janssens.

He said the pattern of events and reported symptoms “strongly indicate mass exposure to neurotoxic agent”.

“Medical staff working in these facilities provided detailed information to MSF doctors regarding large numbers of patients arriving with symptoms including convulsions, excess saliva, pinpoint pupils, blurred vision and respiratory distress,” he said.

Police Taser 11-Year-Old Autistic Girl Found Wandering Naked on Highway, after 95 year old man dies after a Tasering

 

Just when you think the USA Police state (That it is) couldn’t get any worse, a story emerges that is both shocking and disturbing. An 11 (YES 11 YEARS OLD) year old girl, thought to be Autistic was wandering naked down a highway along the I-5 corridor in Oregon. Cab driver Adam Bedna stopped his cab and drove beside the girl and called the police. The police arrived, and instead of just grabbing the CHILD he warned her a few times then tasered the poor child. The police say she “May be ill” but for fuck sake, could the policeman not have asked the cab driver to help get the kid into the police car?

What the FUCK has happened to the USA? Story after story of wrongdoings by the Government, police you name it, it is, as we say in  Scotland “It’s a shyt state of affairs”

Illinois Police Kill 95-Year-Old With Taser Shocks and Bean Bag Rounds

A 95-year-old resident of an Illinois nursing home died early Saturday, hours after being shocked with a Taser and bean bag rounds in a confrontation with police.

Authorities said John Warna was a resident at Victory Centre of Park Forest, on the 100 block of South Main Street in the south suburb. He was threatening paramedics and staff with a cane and a metal shoehorn when police arrived at the complex, they said.

Police said they struck him with a Taser and bean bag rounds after he threatened officers with a 12-inch butcher knife.

Blogger gets visit from cops for Googling “pressure cookers” and “backpacks?”

This story got a lot of buzz on the Internets today, as it seemed to suggest that the dragnetting of America’s phone metadata and browsing habits via Prism by NSA might be resulting in young couples with simultaneous interests in new pressure cookers and backpacking were being raided by armed law enforcement.

The blogger in question is Michele Catalano, who some of you may remember from her blog, “A Small Victory,” on which she wrote during the mid-2000s. As the story evolved throughout the day, police released a statement clarifying that it wasn’t NSA’s dragnetting that got her family ensnared but the “see something say something” impulse of an employer on whose computer the above Googling occurred.

Here is Catalano’s account of her experience, which she theorized had something to do with her family’s Googling habits, based on the questioning her husband got. Read the whole thing because she’s a good writer:

What happened was this: At about 9:00 am, my husband, who happened to be home yesterday, was sitting in the living room with our two dogs when he heard a couple of cars pull up outside. He looked out the window and saw three black SUVs in front of our house; two at the curb in front and one pulled up behind my husband’s Jeep in the driveway, as if to block him from leaving.

Six gentleman in casual clothes emerged from the vehicles and spread out as they walked toward the house, two toward the backyard on one side, two on the other side, two toward the front door.

A million things went through my husband’s head. None of which were right. He walked outside and the men greeted him by flashing badges. He could see they all had guns holstered in their waistbands.

“Are you [name redacted]?” one asked while glancing at a clipboard. He affirmed that was indeed him, and was asked if they could come in. Sure, he said.

They asked if they could search the house, though it turned out to be just a cursory search. They walked around the living room, studied the books on the shelf (nope, no bomb making books, no Anarchist Cookbook), looked at all our pictures, glanced into our bedroom, pet our dogs. They asked if they could go in my son’s bedroom but when my husband said my son was sleeping in there, they let it be.

Meanwhile, they were peppering my husband with questions. Where is he from? Where are his parents from? They asked about me, where was I, where do I work, where do my parents live. Do you have any bombs, they asked. Do you own a pressure cooker? My husband said no, but we have a rice cooker. Can you make a bomb with that? My husband said no, my wife uses it to make quinoa. What the hell is quinoa, they asked.

They searched the backyard. They walked around the garage, as much as one could walk around a garage strewn with yardworking equipment and various junk. They went back in the house and asked more questions.

Have you ever looked up how to make a pressure cooker bomb? My husband, ever the oppositional kind, asked them if they themselves weren’t curious as to how a pressure cooker bomb works, if they ever looked it up. Two of them admitted they did.

So more freedoms are being taken, people google certain words and phrases and the cops are at the door. Does this make you feel safe as it may have been a terrorist or unsafe as you ALL KNOW now you are being spied on. I live in the UK and in parts of Oldham in England it is “Almost” Sharia law, I hear stories of brutality and deaths and honour killings that are almost protected by a foreign law, and I must say, I think this is wrong. I know many will have mixed feeling and opinions over this, but if, for example a UK or Australian, USA born person, Man or Woman was to commit a crime, or something deemed to be a crime in a Muslim country, they would be brought to task. In one Muslim Country there are several UK citizens in jail awaiting DEATH for being “Accused” of carrying drugs, one I know about was carrying enough Cannabis in a Muslim Country, enough for 1 joint is looking at being killed.

So as you can see, I blog about the whole story, it is just the scene is being played out on an American Stage. It was clear that he was a natural in this role, leaving both his opponents Senator John McCain and Governor Mitt Romney in the rhetorical dust.

Perhaps that is why, even though he won re-election for a second term, he is unwilling to dismantle his campaign apparatus and get into the down and dirty, nitty-gritty work of governing in hard-edged, well-disciplined prose.

Mr Obama’s first term was challenging since he faced a strong Republican opposition intent on stopping his agenda dead in its tracks.

Despite the efforts of the opposition, he was able to pass a piece of hard-fought landmark legislation – Obamacare.

Just as his predecessors have done before him, when things are not going so well at home it’s time to take to the international stage to look “presidential” and refocus on the agenda.

It seems that Mr Obama had hoped his trip to the G8 and Germany would give him just that opportunity.

Last week he was at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on the eve of the 50th Anniversary of JFK’s famous speech to re-capture some of the magic of his 2008 campaign.

This time the president spoke before a much smaller, invited gathering.

Long gone were the “rock star” awaiting throng of hundreds of thousands that he so easily captivated just five years ago.

Realistically, expectations were not so high this time around and this Nobel Peace Prize winner’s only competition last week was not JFK or Ronald Reagan but Barack Obama himself.

Mr Obama has now governed for several years and the times have certainly changed.

The weight of real world problems that he has had to face may have eaten away at the idealistic hope his supporters had for him and his administration.

Optimism and idealism for “Hope and Change” seem to have given way to the hard, cold realities of the toughest job in the world.

Mr Obama has not only been facing a tough domestic opposition but he has also had to come face to face with the severe challenges on the international stage and they visibly taken their toll.

As Congress tries to wrap up some of its important legislation before the July 4 recess, the president and his family are headed for a week-long visit to Africa.

The Senate Immigration Reform Bill is front and centre, and the passage of this piece of historic legislation might need a bit of the president’s encouragement.

If passed, this is likely to be the most important piece of legislation passed in his second term.

At the same time he could also be facing the most the challenging crisis of his presidency.

The “Snowden Crisis” has put the Obama administration’s intelligence-gathering policies in jeopardy, under the public microscope, and has once again eroded the precious trust between the US government and the American people.

How Mr Obama deals with this crisis of trust and how he finds his voice to regain that trust and confidence on this issue could determine his legacy.

Most US citizens are torn. They are uncomfortable with the government having unfettered access to their private communications. At the same time, they understand the government must “snoop” to some extent, when legally justified, to keep them safe.

• What will the fallout be in US relations with China, Russia and the ultimate country that agrees to give Mr Snowden asylum?

I may be from Scotland, UK but the actual truth of the matter is, when America sneezes, we all get a cold over here, when America gets ill, we all get ill. The market crash worldwide came on the back of the USA Market crash. I don’t think some in America truly realise the impact every decision, every move, every lie has on the World, the same World ALL our kids grow up in. The USA have had terrible time abroad with relations with China and Russia sinking to an all time low. With China now being the new financial superpower AND buying up land in the USA we enter a crucial time for the people of this Generation, and a time that can and probably will shape the World for generations to come with many issues being at hand that the American Government have backed themselves into a corner with.

America is no longer the beacon of freedom it once was, it is not as resolute as it once was, the American Dream has died, the USA is a dying nation. I know Many do not want to hear this, read this nor accept this. I got called an “American Basher” by an IDIOT on here who I blocked within minutes of it being said. I love the people of the USA, most of the people I follow are from the USA, real friends, they are as worried if not more worried than I am about what could happen due to the events in the 12 blogs I have done out of nearly 800 about the USA and other countries that can and will and could at any second harm the USA, the USA has no money, never has there been a time when the USA has been as wide open to attack in ANY form. I pray and hope I am wrong, but sadly, when you have a quick glance or a good read of the FACTS I have added to the blogs above, anyone with even the smallest brain and ability to realise the USA is NOT the WORLD and is in-fact a nation on its knees with a people who are asking more each day about lies, a nation who are beginning to starve, it is slowly happening. This is the beginning of the end for what I see as the new Roman Empire. Jeremiah 25:31- Want to talk God and Scripture?

This guy, I think he is a pastor or a bishop from Canada, I am not 100% sure, he cleverly got his friend to get all the noises ever heard and play them all at once. WOW!

I have been listening to these sounds coming from all over the world for a few years now, I have blogged about it before, to no avail, because nobody know what it is, so I researched, HARD on the matter, and I found a piece of scripture that matches these sounds.

Now if you are unaware of this, like totally, prepare to start scratching your head an asking if this indeed scripture. I hear about God every day and how he will come and save me and take away my pain, so ok, I will now tell you, this is Gospel, this is scripture, and this is coming from all ends of the world. These things are happening worldwide, they can be explained away by erosion or water getting in-between layers, but this would be plausible if say 10 or 20 happened, to date over 500 have happened all over the World, mainly the Americas North and South over the last three years, some are a few feet in size and go 300 feet down, some are 200 yards wide and go a mile deep, and all in-between. This has science and the like’s puzzles. When an event happens, you deal with it, when it happens hundreds of times in a short space of time, there has to be an equal sign (=) at the end of the question, here there is not, so what is causing holes to swallow up cars, homes and people World Wide?

French president threatens to block EU trade negotiations with the US amid bugging scandal

French President Francois Hollande has said allegations that the US bugged European embassies could threaten a huge planned EU-US trade deal.

He said there could be no negotiations without guarantees that spying would stop “immediately”.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said he did not know the truth of the claims but sought to down play them.

Meanwhile, Russian and US security agencies are reportedly discussing how to deal with the man behind the leaks.

Former CIA-analyst Edward Snowden is believed to be at an airport in Moscow, seeking a destination safe from the US where he is wanted for prosecution over the leaking of thousands of classified documents.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and US’s President Barack Obama have ordered the chiefs of their respective agencies, FSB and FBI, to find a way out of the impasse, a senior Russian official said.

The allegations that US security services bugged EU missions and the embassies of friendly European countries – including the French, Italian and Greek embassies – were published at the weekend by Der Spiegel in Germany and the Guardian in Britain.
